May 2025 Project of The Month: Reuben’s Brews on First
Bringing Reuben’s Brews to Downtown Seattle with Bold, Brand-Forward Signage
We were thrilled to partner with Reuben’s Brews, a staple of the Seattle craft beer scene since 2012, on a vibrant new chapter in their story: the opening of their Downtown Taproom on First Avenue. As longtime fans of their brand, we were excited to help translate their identity into a bold, highly visible street presence right in the heart of the city.
Reuben’s Brews began as a passion project for founders Adam and Grace Robbings, named after their firstborn son. Since then, it has grown into a beloved, family-owned brewery known for its breadth of styles and award-winning beers. Their 30-barrel production facility, where most of the beers in cans, kegs, and bottles are brewed, anchors their operations and also houses The Canning Line, one of two private event spaces. Together with their 15-barrel Ballard taproom, which opened in 2015, and a loyal community following, this downtown expansion marks a major milestone for the brand.
To support this move, we designed, fabricated, and installed a cohesive suite of custom signage that blends thoughtful craftsmanship with Reuben’s signature look and feel.
A Downtown Presence That Shines
At the main entrance, we created a 10' x 3' canopy-mounted sign featuring their iconic cursive script. Internally illuminated with white LEDs, the letters are push-thru clear acrylic, digitally printed with a vinyl overlay to ensure color accuracy and added depth. Finished in Reuben’s signature brand colors and a smooth satin sheen, this sign sets the tone for the entire storefront.
To complement the main signage, we fabricated two double-faced, internally lit blade signs for added visibility:
A 2' x 2' circular cabinet with the lowercase cursive "r" logo, mounted directly to the canopy.
A 4.5' x 2' rectangular blade sign further down the block, designed to echo the main sign for a cohesive look.
At the secondary entrance, we installed a 2' x 3' illuminated “r” on top of the canopy, providing a bold and welcoming beacon for passersby from either direction.
Built to Reflect the Brand—and the Neighborhood
Every element of this project was designed to honor Reuben’s well-established identity while introducing it to a new, dynamic part of Seattle. We worked closely with their team to ensure the signage not only matched their existing brand language but also stood out in a visually complex downtown environment.
From concept to installation, this project is a great example of how custom architectural signage can help a business make a confident, authentic entrance into a new space.
