Brown's Coffee

Yes, it's finally up and lit! Neal Brown, owner of Brown's Coffee has been coming into our showroom for a number of years - always saying that one day he was going to have us convert the antique FRISBEE'S BAKERY sign into one for his business. For any of you that grew up in Tacoma, Frisbee's Bakery was an institution - a lot of folks have come in over the years and smiled, remembering their childhood weekend outings to Frisbee's. I managed to acquire this sign about 10 years ago, and have displayed in our showroom since. We put all new paint (thanks Sven!), wiring, and neon on to reflect Brown's logo. I'm so happy it has found a home with Neal - he is a great guy, makes outstanding coffee and has put together a wonderful vibe at his new cafe (we approve of the cool antique signs, bikes, etc.). See it and the new home for this great sign in old Shoreline!

Thanks to all at Western Neon for a great job on my new sign...

I fell in love with the old "Frisbee's Bakery and Snack Bar" sign at first sight, when I went into Western Neon and saw it towering over the lobby. I just felt like it had to somehow become mine. I bugged Jay from time to time with numerous schemes, plans, and business ideas, that could somehow incorporate this early 1950's beauty, but each time my dreams were dashed on the rocks of reality. It's really hard to start a new business, or in my case, grow an existing one - and in this business and economic downturn, it seems almost impossible. Finally a combination of events conspired to make my dream possible, and Jay and I worked out all of the details which really helped immensely! Jay has a special knack for making the wheels turn in these situations and I loved working with him. At one point we even busted out the guitars and had an impromptu jam session on my new stage!

Honestly, Western Neon couldn't be the great company it is without a great support team. The great people behind the scenes were super fun to deal with. Paco the wizard who hung the sign with the help of Chase, worked a number of minor miracles to get this behemoth hung on the side of the shop, always with a jovial and generous smile.

As you can tell, I'm pretty much thrilled with Western Neon and all their good peeps, and I know I may risk sounding like a suck-up, but NOTHING can match the feeling I get when I drive up to my shop with my two small sons, and see the sign with our name on it, blazing in the evening sky.

Not a big enough word. Cant explain it, it's too big...

If I ever can find the words, they will always include a giant thank you to Jay and the gang for the magic that happened on 8-9-10 the date they installed our sign!
